Calla Lilies; Film vs Digital

Calla LilyThis is the season for Calla Lilies to be in bloom; wherever I walk I am attracted to the curves and creaminess that bursts from this flower. Recently I took a few digital images of this natural work of art since, of course, we are now in the age of digital cameras. And the era when adjustments are made to alter the image after the photo is taken. It’s also fairly common now to take numerous shots (sometimes excessively) of the same subject matter (there is no longer the expense of film to limit our shooting).

Today I happened to have noticed the photograph of a Calla Lily I had taken years ago, with, of course, a 35mm camera (the last image). I think the composition was more deliberate, and something about this image drew me in more than my digital images of the same subject. The color, warmth (this may be more noticeable off-screen)?

Besides the different photographic processes involved, I am using a different lens (50mm) on my digital camera that allows a shallower depth of field, and, I no longer have my beloved 135mm lens which is what I had used most often with my 35mm camera.

Same subject matter, different technology. Preference for final result?
