Overwhelmed by your to-do list? Overwhelmed by the onslaught of information from everywhere you turn? Solution: High Tea on a Saturday afternoon.
A friend’s garden club put on a high tea that I recently attended, even though I had so.much.to.do that day. What a refreshing experience to simply spend a few hours doing nothing but enjoying my time there, to simply relax.
Each table was graced with lace, floral centerpiece, fine china and distinguished teapots, as well as the essential jams and tea selections. We were served tea sandwiches (of course) and delicate deserts, then watched a video about enchanting English gardens. Some women were decked with hats and white gloves; I was reminded of a time that has vanished, my mother’s era or the one before her.
By the end of the afternoon I had forgotten about all I needed to get done that day that had seemed so important.

Nice work, Arlene. The only place where I’ve participated in “High Tea” was at the big hotel in Victoria. I wonder if they still do that anymore.
Thanks Robin. I think the hotel in Victoria still does High Tea although I haven’t been there in decades. I think there are a few places around Seattle that serve High Tea as well.
Very nice post of a relaxing experience. Love the description and the photos!! Good job. It reminded me of the Wee-Pie play I saw last night at the SPT.
Thanks!
