A special holiday photography gift I gave this past year was Accordian Mini Books that contained 5 small photos on the front and 6 photos on the back (they can hold more photos, depending on the image size). They fold up like a tiny accordian sandwich held between black fabric covers. The holidays are now over but these are still great gifts to give throughout the year.
The compact size (approx 3.5 inches high, 17 inches wide) allows you to easily carry images around of an important event or person(s) to show to loved ones near and far. Printed photos have a special quality that surpasses what you view on a screen and these little gems make it easy to enjoy and share treasured moments with others.
The occasion for the photographs in these Accordian Mini Books was a Bar Mitzvah. As they opened their tiny packages I noticed the delight of the parents as they expanded the small images in the accordian which brought back wonderful memories… something that they can slip into a purse or pocket and casually share with others. Okay, a mini-brag book or an ‘I am proud book’…. After all, these parents had reason to be proud of their son on that special day, and their tiny accordian books document those memories and moments in a unique way. The fun and challenging part for me was finding a simple way to tell the story with a limited number of images. (Disclaimer–unfortunately I didn’t take photos to post of the finished product with their covers before they were given away but have posted a few of the larger images I culled from.)
