The Canadian Maritimes–Prince Edward Island & Sydney, Nova Scotia

Prince Edward Island, Canadian Maritimes landscapeCharlottetown: a small town on the southern coast of Prince Edward Island in Eastern Canada. Colorfully painted pastel houses, spires jutting from churches built in the 1600s/1700s, luscious landscapes draped in soft golden yellows and burnt oranges contrasting with the blues of the water and sky.

Sydney, Nova Scotia: the oldest wooden building in Sydney (Jost House–built in 1786), beautiful historic churches; stepping back into the past. The image below of exquisite light coming through a window was taken at Sacred Heart Parish Church in Sydney, a beautiful sanctuary founded in 1825. The last image was an unusual figurine I discovered sitting in an old buggy by the side of a house. I found it intriguing in a sad and powerful way. What is the story behind the artist who created the figure, and of this child?
