A yellow school bus + porta potties + a dirt dance floor in a barn + “The Ground Meat Flats” playing square dance music = a one-of-a-kind wedding celebration in Cannon Beach, Oregon, uniting the bride who resides in Italy and the groom who resides in New Zealand when not captaining a ship in the Indian Ocean.
The scene of the ceremony was a bluff overlooking the breathtaking beauty that is Cannon Beach. The barefoot bride took her vows in a small makeshift structure formed by bamboo poles embedded in the sand and adorned with flowers, covered with white tulle, and framing Haystock Rock in the distance.
The evening before the wedding, attendees were transported via large yellow school bus to a barn dance barbecue with square dance caller, complete with a ‘surprise’ wedding cake stacked with yellow (lemon) ‘bales of hay’. Atop the ‘hay bales’ was a miniature bride dragging the groom by the neck. Unique, beautiful, fun. Congratulations Jessica & Phil!
