Have you ever been in a waiting room before a doctor or dentist appointment and felt dread or anxiety (or fear of the unknown) about the upcoming visit? Art on the walls during this brief segment in time has made a difference to me, providing respite; a way to soothe my eye, mind, and feelings. A nice distraction.
On a recent visit to the Bastyr Clinical Research Center in Seattle I noticed the art on the walls looked a bit dated, maybe from the 1970s (or maybe 1950s?). A few of my photographs have replaced some of that art and are now being displayed there.
In sharing my work my intention is to afford a visitor some visual beauty to perhaps calm or even uplift them in this tiny waiting space. Maybe making a difference for a few moments, and giving back.
